The igneus Bambino is the medium-sized oven in the Igneus range. Like all Igneus ovens, it relies solely on wood logs as its fuel source. Moreover, the Bambino boasts the remarkable ability to cook a 14” pizza in a mere 60 seconds. It takes 10-15+ minutes to reach the optimum pizza cooking temperature.

Wood Fired Cooking

To get that delicious wood fired flavour, you will use kiln-dried hardwoods logs as your fuel in the Bambino. We highly recommend opting for kiln-dried silver birch due to its quick ignition and ability to maintain a high heat. It’s worth noting that if you use a denser wood, you should expect a longer wait to reach pizza cooking temperature.

Built in thermometer

Additionally, the Bambino comes equipped with a built-in thermometer situated on the top left side of the oven. This thermometer allows you to monitor the temperature within the cooking chamber as you prepare your culinary delights. For a more precise temperature reading, we recommend purchasing an infrared digital thermometer to measure the heat of the firebricks accurately.

Removable Door

Furthermore, the Bambino features a removable door, which allows you to retain the heat in the cooking chamber. This feature enables you to cook foods at lower temperatures and utilize embers effectively. What’s more, the Bambino’s versatility extends beyond pizza, as it can also accommodate large baking trays or roasting tins. Allowing you to cook roasts, potatoes, lasagnas, vegetables, and a wide array of other dishes.

Hand Made

Notably, the Bambino is a handcrafted masterpiece hailing from Portugal, meticulously crafted by pizza oven experts. It is constructed from marine-grade stainless steel and features a powder-coated aluminium canopy. The oven is thoughtfully designed to be fully insulated, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

Lightweight

Weighing a mere 35kg, the Igneus Bambino is exceptionally lightweight, making it a potential portable option for outdoor cooking enthusiasts. Furthermore, for even greater ease of transportation, the weight can be further reduced to a mere 17kg by removing the fire bricks. This feature ensures that you can take your Bambino with you to various locations without any significant hassle or strain.

In addition to its manageable weight, the Bambino offers another practical advantage for transport: the chimney is detachable and can be conveniently placed inside the oven during transportation. This thoughtful design allows you to make the most of the available space and simplifies the process of moving the oven to different cooking locations.

Use & Care for Your Wood-Fired Pizza Oven

Taking proper care of your wood-fired pizza oven ensures it performs beautifully, lasts for many years, and delivers authentic wood-fired flavour every time. Whether your oven is built-in, freestanding, or part of a luxury outdoor kitchen, follow these essential care tips to get the most from your investment.

  • Cure Your Pizza Oven Before First Use - Always follow the manufacturer’s curing instructions before your first cook. This usually involves gradually building up heat over several days to temper the refractory materials and prevent cracking.

  • Use Seasoned, Hardwood Logs Only- Burn clean, dry hardwoods such as oak, ash, or beech. Avoid using softwoods, resinous woods, or treated timber, as they produce excess smoke, creosote, and can damage the interior of your pizza oven.

  • Preheat Properly Before Cooking- Give your oven ample time to reach the correct temperature (typically 400–500°C for pizza). Allowing the oven to heat slowly helps avoid thermal shock and ensures even cooking across the stone floor and dome.

  • Clean the Oven Floor After Each Use- Once the oven cools slightly, use a brass-bristle brush or pizza oven rake to sweep out ash and food residue. Never use water inside the oven while it is hot — let it cool completely first.

  • Empty the Ash Pan or Chamber Weekly- Regularly remove built-up ash from your oven’s ash drawer or floor. This improves airflow, helps your oven heat more efficiently, and keeps your food tasting clean.

  • Protect with a Weatherproof Cover- If your wood-fired oven is outdoors, always use a breathable, weather-resistant cover when not in use. This protects the dome and chimney from moisture damage, especially in the UK climate.

  • Check the Chimney for Blockages Seasonally- Inspect and clean the flue or chimney at the start of each cooking season to remove soot and debris. This ensures proper smoke ventilation and reduces fire risk.

  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals and Abrasives- Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive pads or chemicals that could damage painted, stainless steel, or refractory surfaces.

  • Use Thermal Blankets or Insulation for Built-In Models- If your oven is installed into a structure, ensure proper insulation is in place to retain heat efficiently and avoid cracking from uneven expansion.

  • Winterise for Off-Season Protection- If not using your oven during colder months, deep clean, empty the ash, and store accessories indoors. Cover the oven securely to protect against frost, rain, and temperature shifts.

Caring for your wood-fired pizza oven not only protects your investment but also ensures every cook is as good as the first — with that unmistakable wood-fired aroma and perfect crust.
